The TP-SCPOE-1212 from Tycon Systems is a compact 12 VDC PoE/Solar charge controller designed to streamline power delivery and battery charging in remote or distributed systems that rely on both solar panels and Power-over-Ethernet sources. It features dual input capability, allowing it to accept power from a PoE source (18–57 V) or a solar panel (15–36 V), and intelligently prioritizes the solar input when available to maximize efficiency and reduce grid power usage. Inside, the TP-SCPOE-1212 POE/Solar charge controller incorporates a built-in DC-to-DC PoE inserter that delivers a regulated 12 V PoE output at up to 1 A, while also providing a secondary 12 V battery output at up to 1.5 A via terminal connections. The unit includes full protective features — including short-circuit, over-charge, over-discharge, and reverse polarity protection — helping safeguard both the battery and connected devices from common electrical faults. LEDs on the front panel provide clear indication of PoE presence, solar power status, battery charging, load output, and reverse polarity warnings for easy system diagnostics.

Designed for rugged field environments, the controller supports wire sizes up to 10 AWG at the battery and solar terminals and uses readily accessible RJ-45 connectors for PoE input and output.
